Capstone idea

Right now i am looking at doing 3D work. I really got into it last semester. Im not the greatest with Maya but i plan on learning alot this semester and also UDK. those are the two programs i really want to get into for my project. my idea right now to design a fitness center in 3D. i want to model all of the objects then in UDK make it where the user could actually walk through and see the whole thing. The purpose for this is i want to own my own business in the future, and i would really like to own a gym. Designing my own fitness center would be a great thing to maybe show the bank for a loan or to pitch the idea about the gym.

I plan on modeling nearly everything from the free weights to the treadmills, and also the bathrooms and front desk.

I really want to work in 3D and my other idea was to do a much similar thing only design a bar. im not real sure which one would be more impressive i guess.

Thats my question right now would be either the bar or gym. once i decide that i can start drawing and modeling.

    Well if you really want to own a gym in the future, then you should design a gym. But, if it's a really interesting bar design, you could work on that.
    OR, a gym with a spa/bar for adults! :3

    Good job and finding a marketable use for your capstone and landing your idea for the future. A showcase of a gym sounds awesome, you could probably sell it to me for sure. Good luck and I hope the plans go accordingly.

    I always think creating things in 3D are cool so it would be cool to do that. If you can I would add people working out in the gym.

    I kind of think that the gym would be more complex, so if you're looking to really show off your ability I'd go with that one. I think there's more variety of shapes and things in a gym than a bar. Then again, the bar might allow for a little more freedom in inovative designs, so I'm not sure.

    I think you should make it interactive. Make it a virtual walkthrough that the "clients" (capstone audience) can manipulate as it plays, or even fully control the experience.

    Hey Brandon, this is really a cool idea. I like the thought of letting people walk through the gym and experience it. It does sound similiar to what I was thinking for the vision tutorial. By the way, I was a co GM at a fitness club for awhile...
